Called Doug and set up an onsite review of the shed at my house. He evaluated the area where the shed was going to go and explained the build process. He discussed the various shed options and was also able to match the vinyl siding and roof shingle color of my house perfectly. On the day of construction the two workers showed up promptly and were very professional. They were able to finish the shed within a single day. Great Craftsmanship and Attention to Details
I needed a replacement for my 23-year-old Heartland shed. Based on Angie’s List reviews, I went to Affordable Sheds to determine if they had what I wanted. The people at their site were very informative without being pushy. When Doug Lewis, the owner, came to my house to make final arrangements, he also was very helpful with suggestions, without pressuring to up-sell his products. I decided to go with the premier package, vinyl siding, and a vinyl privacy lattice. I have a sloping yard, which meant I also needed leveling blocks and a long ramp. In fact, I contracted for a 6′ ramp, but after putting up the shed, Bruce Elmore (the installer) recommended to Doug that for safety purposes (more gentle slope), it needed 8′, which they installed at no additional cost. The price also included the tear-down and removal of the old shed, which was not an easy feat. Doug had allowed a week for the entire job, but Bruce completed it in 3 days. I had the opportunity to observe him at work, and he showed great craftsmanship and attention to detail. He left the yard in pristine condition. They were excellent. They made the shed to match the house perfectly. The siding, trim and roofing all look the same. The yard was difficult to work with because it is hilly. Doug Lewis and his team were a pleasure to work with; professional, reliable, honest, punctual, efficient, skilled — and any other positive adjective one can think of to describe a great experience. We picked Affordable Sheds out of a line up of five (5) competitors. Why: On-site construction (important for our quality, control), competitive pricing (just as good if not better than dealers of “manufactured” sheds, in our view), solid 2×4 construction (unlike most “manufactured” sheds), 12” on-center pressure treated floor joists, and 16” on-center wall studs (far superior to most “manufactured” sheds we found on the market), strong ¾” pressure treated flooring (again, superior to most “manufactured” sheds we found), maintenance-free PVC exterior trim, and options for height (we chose 86″). Most important ─ outstanding service! Doug and his team found siding, shingles, and paint to perfectly match our house. We did our own site preparation (clearing, pier installation (nine at 24″ deep in concrete)), and we sincerely appreciated Affordable Sheds’ lead carpenter’s site survey, written instructions, and on-site “coaching” during the process. Then, on-site builder Paul’s efficient carpentry, attention to detail, commitment to quality, and job site cleanliness topped off this pleasant experience. As follow-up, Doug Lewis came to the house within two days of construction to touch up paint and to ensure our 100% satisfaction. Excellent Service
They came out during a snow storm to complete majority of the job, which they did not have to do. They came a long distance and I really appreciated that. They provided excellent and service and I recommend them to others. Douglas is very friendly and professional. He first came to measure and checked with the city to ensure the shed would conform. It took about three weeks because we had to schedule a date that was convenient for both of us. They sent an assembly guy who installed it onsite. His employee did most of the work that day and came back to do the finishing touches. I thought the shed was very affordable and it was a great experience! I asked for certain things for the shed and everything was made exactly as I asked. They painted the shed to match the house and made sure in the beginning to take down the paint number I wanted. Very pleased with our experience with Affordable Sheds in the construction of our 16′ x 10′ shed. The actual construction was preceded by two site visits: first, a very thorough discussion of our requirements, after which the builders double-checked our city’s regulations to ensure our plans would meet code.
